Description

These Homemade Pizza Rolls are a delightful appetizer featuring a crispy baked dough rolled with savory pizza sauce, melted mozzarella, mini pepperoni slices, and Italian seasonings. Perfectly golden and cheesy, they make a crowd-pleasing snack or party treat served warm with extra sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough and Filling

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

For Topping

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dough: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle approximately 12 inches by 10 inches.
  2. Add Sauce and Toppings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly across the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by mini pepperoni slices. Then sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder over the top.
  3. Roll and Slice: Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into approximately 1-inch thick rolls.
  4. Arrange and Oil: Place the rolls cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing each about an inch apart. Brush the tops lightly with olive oil to promote browning and crispness.
  5. Bake: Bake rolls in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove from oven and optionally sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm with additional pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Customize the filling by adding cooked sausage, sautéed mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers for varied flavors.
  • If using store-bought refrigerated pizza dough, let it rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes before rolling to make handling easier.
  • Cut rolls evenly to ensure uniform baking.
