Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon Swirl
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Beat Butter and Eggs: In a separate bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter until creamy, then add the eggs and continue mixing until the mixture is fluffy and smooth.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Gradually stir in the whole milk and vanilla extract into the butter and egg mixture until fully incorporated.
- Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, being careful not to overmix to maintain the batter’s light texture.
- Create Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Pour half of this cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter in the baking dish and use a knife to swirl it through the batter for a cinnamon roll effect.
- Bake: Bake the bars in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until they turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Make Glaze and Serve: While the bars cool, whisk powdered sugar with 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk to create a smooth glaze. Drizzle the glaze evenly over the cooled bars before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Room temperature eggs help achieve a fluffier batter.
- Be careful not to overmix the batter to keep the bars tender.
- You can adjust the milk quantity in the glaze to achieve desired consistency.
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon swirl mixture.
