Ingredients
Scale
For the Tiramisu Layer:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- Ladyfingers, enough to cover the bottom of the trifle dish
For the Berry Layer:
- 3 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons berry liqueur (optional)
For Garnish:
- Additional mixed berries
- Cocoa powder or grated chocolate
Instructions
- Prepare the Tiramisu Layer: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. In a shallow dish, mix the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur (if using). Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- Prepare the Berry Layer: In a separate bowl, toss the mixed berries with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and berry liqueur (if using). Let them macerate for about 15 minutes to release their juices and enhance flavor.
- Assemble the Trifle: Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a trifle dish. Spread half of the tiramisu mixture over the ladyfingers. Spoon half of the macerated berries over the tiramisu layer. Repeat with remaining ladyfingers, tiramisu mixture, and berries to create layered effect.
- Chill and Set: Cover the trifle dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
- Garnish and Serve: Before serving, top the trifle with additional mixed berries and sprinkle cocoa powder or grated chocolate on top. Serve chilled and enjoy this creamy, fruity dessert with family and friends.
Notes
- For best results, use freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee that is completely cooled before soaking the ladyfingers.
- If you prefer, omit the coffee and berry liqueurs to make the dessert alcohol-free.
- Ensure the ladyfingers are dipped quickly to avoid becoming too soggy and compromising the texture.
- The dessert can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator, making it convenient for gatherings.
- You can use frozen berries as an alternative; just thaw and drain any excess liquid before macerating.
