Ingredients
Scale
Croissant and Berries
- 4 large croissants, broken into small pieces (use already baked croissants, not dough)
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- ½ cup blueberries
- ½ cup raspberries
Cream Cheese Mixture
- 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Layer Croissants and Berries: Spread the broken croissant pieces evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Distribute the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries evenly over the croissant pieces for a fresh fruit topping.
- Make Cream Cheese Mixture: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add in the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine and Chill: Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the croissants and berries. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to 14 hours to allow the croissants to soak up the custard mixture.
- Bake and Serve: Remove the cover and bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with syrup for added sweetness.
Notes
- Ensure to use baked croissants, not raw croissant dough, for proper texture.
- Fruit options can be varied depending on availability or preference.
- Refrigerating the casserole before baking allows for better custard absorption and improved flavor.
- Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
- Optional toppings include powdered sugar or maple syrup.
